Super Junior (Shorter Form: SJ or SUJU)(Korean: 슈퍼주니어) is a South Korean boy band. Formed in 2005 by producer Lee Soo-man of SM Entertainment, the group comprised a total of thirteen members at its peak, and was once claimed to be the world’s largest boy band. Super Junior originally debuted with twelve members, consisting of leader Leeteuk, Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kibum. Kyuhyun was added to the group in 2006.

Super Junior launched into international recognition following the release of their best-selling single “Sorry, Sorry” in 2009, the title song of their most critically successful album Sorry, Sorry. The group has released and contributed to over 20 records with varying degrees of success, and was the best-selling K-pop artist for three years in a row. Over the years, they have been divided into smaller subgroups, simultaneously targeting different music industries and audiences. Largely due to Super Junior’s success as entertainers, other Korean entertainment managements began to train their music groups in other areas of entertainment, such as acting and hosting. In addition to their commercial success, Super Junior has earned six music awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, nine from the Golden Disk Awards, and is the second singing group to win Favorite Artist Korea at the 2008 MTV Asia Awards after jtL in 2003.

In December 2009, Han Geng left the group after filing a lawsuit against their agency SM Entertainment. Heechul and Kangin announced their hiatus to fulfill their mandatory military service of two years, and Kibum temporarily parted with the group for his pursuit of an acting career, leaving Super Junior with nine active members.

2PM is made by Korean musician Park Jin Young after GOD for the first time in 10 years to launch boyband. 2PM is one of the two subgroups branched out from the eleven-member (before Jaebeom’s departure) boy band One Day, the other being 2AM. They debuted with the song “10 Jeom Manjeome 10 Jeom” (10점 만점에 10점, lit. 10 Points Out of 10 Points), which showcased their acrobatic dance styles.[2] They achieved their first No. 1 song with “Again & Again”.

2NE1 is the self-titled debut album of Korean girl group 2NE1. It was released as a mini album, containing seven songs composed and produced by Korean producers Teddy Park and Kush. The album was released July 8, 2009.

2NE1′s first song was “Lollipop”, digitally released on March 27, 2009. The song was created for LG Cyon to promote their Lollipop phone, and it was a joint release with Big Bang; the commercial/music video debuted on March 28, 2009. Although it was not a promoted single (as it was an advertisement song, there were problems with network chart eligibility), “Lollipop” proved to be a strong chart hit, going to #1 on various online charts and topping music television network M.Net’s online chart for four weeks in a row. It was also profiled in Perez Hilton’s blog. However, questions were raised about the group’s future, as the song’s success was attributed to the popularity of Big Bang.

On April 30, Yang Hyun-suk revealed that 2NE1′s debut song would be a hip-hop/reggae song, and that it would be digitally released on May 6, 2009. Titled “Fire”, the song was fully written and produced by 1TYM’s Teddy Park. Teasers of the song were released on their official website at the beginning of May, with a 20-second clip released on May 1.
